Sid and Hazel Dillon to serve as honorary chairs at Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska fundraiser

Fremont, Neb. – June 8, 2016 – Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska will honor Sid and Hazel Dillon during its fifth annual Fremont Family Friends fundraising event on June 14 at the Fremont Golf Club.

The event, which benefits the Rupert Dunklau Center for Healthy Families®, brings together community stakeholders who contribute to the Center through ticket purchases, raffles, live auction, cash donations and sponsorships. Proceeds from the annual fundraiser provide essential support for the services provided for children and families at the Center located on Military Avenue.

Sid and Hazel Dillon will be honored for their contributions to the Fremont community and support of Lutheran Family Services. The evening will feature the stories of three families supported by the Center through its incentive program, family budgeting classes and early childhood therapy.

This year’s event chairs are the Dillons’ four children and their spouses: Cathy and Dr. Dwaine Peetz, Lori and John Sajevic, Patty and Sid Dillon, Jr., and Tanya and Blake Dillon. The advisory chairs are Cathy and Brad Holtorf and Melissa and Mark Johannsen.

Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska opened the Rupert Dunklau Center for Healthy Families® in 2007 – on the same Fremont site where LFS founded an orphanage in 1892. The Center focuses on early intervention and prevention, healthy parenting education, and supports at-risk families with children under age five and expectant mothers. Since its opening, the Center has served 1,245 Fremont-area families with 2,126 children.  The garden level of the Center building houses LFS’ adult behavioral health services.
